Bakken has a darker side this autumn
Halloween brings friendly monsters by day and new scares after sunset
The roller coaster is usually enough to get a scream out of visitors to Bakken. This October, there is also a reason to descend beneath it, where Mine-Massakren returns with a longer route through the old mine as part of the park’s expanded seasonal programme.
Monsters for the little ones
Above ground, pumpkins and children’s entertainment take over the amusement park in Dyrehaven, north of Copenhagen. Families can join Grev Spiegelberg’s scare-free monster ball, catch Danish children’s entertainer Onkel Reje with circus artists and dancers, or stop by Pjerrot’s house for a performance from Bakken’s resident clown. The rides will be running too, with the exception of the water slide.
“Since we launched the concept, our guests have been asking for even more Halloween. We have listened, and this year we are significantly expanding the programme,” says Malina Lebrecht Hye, managing director of A/S Dyrehavsbakken.
No safety in the theatre seats
As darkness falls, the friendly monsters give way to Bakken After Dark. Alongside the mine, two new horror attractions await: Dødskabinettet, set in an old museum, and Liv & Lemmer, a maze beside the ghost castle.
Even taking a seat offers little relief. ONDT, a new horror production at Teltet på Bakken, is designed to bring the action beyond the stage and into the audience.
“During the day, we have even more experiences for children, including Grev Spiegelberg’s Monsterbal, while in the evening we turn up the scares with three horror attractions and a new horror show,” Hye says.
