There is usually a DJ behind the decks at Den Anden Side, but this Friday, October 30, the Copenhagen nightclub is inviting people in for an art exhibition before the music starts.

The exhibition, *Resting in the Arms of Morpheus*, takes its name from the Greek god of dreams. Sleep, dreams and the strange things that happen somewhere between the two are the themes connecting the works, which range from paintings and photography to sculptures, video and performance.

Among the participating artists is SPYO, whose large graffiti slogans have appeared on walls and rooftops across Copenhagen for more than two decades. This time, he is contributing a poem. Kinga Bartis has created four works for the club's poster wall, while Magda Buczek has installed red LED text displays throughout the venue.

There is also a room reserved for the guests themselves. Its walls will be painted black, leaving clubgoers free to add their own tags and paintings.

## A week inside a glass box

While most of the artworks will remain in place, Rine Rodin's contribution comes with a rather unusual living arrangement.

For seven days, the artist will move into a glass box in the basement. Visitors will be able to watch through a one-way mirror, but Rodin will only see their own reflection.

The performance, called *Sleeping Beauty on Display*, will also be livestreamed on YouTube. Rodin will arrive without personal belongings and depend on the audience for food, books and other necessities. Viewers can even help choose what the artist wears each day.

It is a version of Sleeping Beauty where the audience gets considerably more involved than just waiting for someone to wake up.

## From gallery to nightclub

The exhibition opens Friday at 17.00, giving visitors five hours to see the works before the regular club night begins at 22.00.

Admission to the opening is free, and those who attend can stay for the afterparty without paying entrance. Art followed by dancing? Sounds like a pretty good Friday.

*Resting in the Arms of Morpheus* runs until February 28, 2027\. The artworks can be seen during club nights and on selected Tuesdays when Den Anden Side opens as a gallery with free admission.
