Louisiana turns into a book festival this weekend
From 20-23 August, writers from Denmark and abroad fill the programme in Humlebæk, with talks, readings and events spread across the museum and its grounds
If you are looking for something to do north of Copenhagen this weekend, this might be worth the train ride.
Louisiana Literature starts Thursday and runs for four days, with several stages set up inside and outside the museum.
One of the biggest names on this year’s programme is Siri Hustvedt, the norwegian-American author and essayist behind books including What I Loved and The Blazing World. Earlier this year, she published Ghost Stories: A Love Story, about her long marriage to writer Paul Auster, who died in 2024.
On Friday, Magi i Søhaven moves part of the programme into the garden, where events continue until 23.00. There are also author talks, readings and book signings across the four days.
A regular ticket to Louisiana includes access to the festival. The only exception to the usual first come, first served setup is the Concert Hall, where free numbered tickets are handed out 30 minutes before each event.
Louisiana expects plenty of visitors during the festival, so if there is something you particularly want to see, it is a good idea to arrive early.
