Street food season is back

Cold draught beer, the smell of food from all corners of the world and the sound of people gathering around long tables. That is what often comes to mind when thinking of Copenhagen’s two legendary street food markets, Broens Street Food and Reffen Copenhagen Street Food.

And the wait is almost over.

The reopening of the markets is one of the signs that the cold, grey winter is behind us and that summer is getting closer. Soon the areas will once again fill with music, long evenings by the water and kitchens serving food from across the globe.

This weekend both markets kick off the season with full opening programmes. Here is what to expect.

Reffen

For the opening of its ninth season, Reffen has put together a packed programme featuring many of the things the market is known for: food, art, music and plenty of activity throughout the weekend.

Alongside familiar food stalls, several new kitchens will also join the market this year, bringing flavours from Japanese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Mexican and Lebanese cuisine.

Broens Street Food

With the skating rink season now over, Broens Street Food is reopening for the warmer months ahead. Located by the harbour just across Inderhavnsbroen from Nyhavn, the market is one of Copenhagen’s smaller street food destinations and focuses on simple, cosy events and gatherings.
The opening weekend includes DJs, bingo and activities for the whole family.
