You might go looking for a winter coat and come home with a vase. That is part of the pleasure of secondhand shopping, especially in places where other people’s wardrobes and cupboards supply the shelves. Copenhagen has plenty of both: shops where you browse stand by stand, and others where someone has already selected the clothes for you.

These eight stops include both kinds, with a trip north to Gentofte for furniture and household finds.

### LeLop: a browse in Ørestad

Run by mother and daughter Heidi and Laura, LeLop is an indoor secondhand shop where private sellers rent space for their things. It is a good starting point for a browsing afternoon in Ørestad, with no outdoor market date to plan around.

The shop sits in the 8 House, a short walk from Vestamager Metro. You could combine a visit with a walk on nearby Kalvebod Fælled and a lunch at Vestamager Traktørsted.

### Lidkøb Østerbro: clothes, ceramics and the unexpected

At Lidkøb, private sellers arrange their own stands, so the selection changes from one rail or shelf to the next. Clothing and accessories sit alongside ceramics, books, lamps and things for children. It is worth leaving yourself time to look beyond whatever brought you in.

The Østerbro shop has fitting rooms, making it possible to check a promising jacket or pair of trousers before heading to the till.

### Lidkøb Nørrebro: another set of wardrobes to explore

The Jagtvej branch follows the same format, with stands stocked by individual sellers and fitting rooms for trying things on. Having visited one Lidkøb does not mean you have seen the selection at the other: what is on sale depends on who has rented space that week.

Make it a stop on a Nørrebro afternoon, with time afterwards for coffee or a walk through the neighbourhood.

### iGenbrug: worth the trip to Gentofte

For a secondhand outing with furniture and household objects in mind, head north to iGenbrug. The municipal shop sells items collected at Gentofte’s recycling station, including furniture, clothing and other used goods.

It is also a workplace for people with additional support needs. For shoppers, the appeal is the chance to give something another home before it leaves the recycling system.

### Veras Vintage: start with the clothes

If you prefer browsing a selected rail to working through individual stands, Veras’ basement shop in Studiestræde offers curated secondhand and vintage clothing, with new pieces arriving each week.

Veras also runs clothing markets, including Under Buen at Bispeengen. The shop is the straightforward option for an ordinary shopping day; for the market experience, check the [calendar](https://verasvintage.dk/market/koebenhavn/?ref=seecopenhagencity.com) before setting out.

### Kirppu Valby: an indoor flea-market afternoon

Kirppu is another option for anyone who likes the variety of private sellers’ stands. Its Valby shop has rows of secondhand goods and space to take a break between browsing.

Come with a little patience. As at Lidkøb, the selection changes as sellers bring in new items, so there is no fixed collection to work your way through.

### PRAG: for a more colourful wardrobe

PRAG is a useful addition if clothing is the main purpose of your trip. Its shops carry vintage and secondhand clothes, shoes and accessories, alongside items such as colourful tights and jewellery.

Each branch has its own selection. The Amager Centret shop makes an easy stop if you are already shopping on Amager, while the other Copenhagen branches give you more rails to explore across town.

### Episode: one more stop in the Latin Quarter

Finish a central Copenhagen shopping trip at Episode on Larsbjørnsstræde, a short walk from Veras. The secondhand clothing shop gives you another selection to browse without having to cross the city.

Pairing the two is an easy way to spend an afternoon looking for clothes, with the cafés around Studiestræde and Larsbjørnsstræde close by when you need a break.
